We will be giving our "Creating Your Autobiography" workshop at the Hoover Senior Center in April! As a community service to our local seniors, Marca Life Planning teaches this 4-week workshop. Our Community Care Liaison teaches participants about writing their life stories. The end result is something that their loved ones will treasure for a lifetime!

Alabama was devastated on Wednesday after multiple tornados ravaged the state. Marca Life Planning is honored to act as a drop-off site for Magic City Mom's Moms for Children Care Packages. We will be accepting care packages from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8am to 3pm on Friday.

The Children’s Care Packet, What is it?

•  A reusuable bag {the ones that are 99 cents at most retail stores} filled with things for the children affected by the tornados. My list is just a general idea of what can be put in them, it’s up to you in the end really. Click here to see my ideas.
• Other ideas—- Happy Meal Toys, Small Stuffed Animal, Beanie Babies, Bubbles, Fruit Snacks, Silly Bands…
• Assemble one, ten, twenty {however many you can donate} care packets for the children.

Our president, Jeanne Smith, was interviewed by Leigh Ann Otte for her article, ” Paying for Senior Care”. The article is part of the Today Senior Living website that provides original articles, helpful tools, and a comprehensive senior housing directory. Jeanne shared her expertise regarding such options such as private insurance, long-term care insurance, Medicaid, and working with your local Area Agency on Aging.

Jeanne C. Smith, President of Marca Life Planning, presented a seminar to the FPA of North Alabama. She discussed how to identify the differences between normal aging changes and dementia. By posing the thought-provoking question, "Is the White Elephant in Your Conference Room?", attendees learned how to adjust their approach to post-WWII and Baby Boomer clients and how to become better advocates for those clients entering the next stage of their lives.

Marca Life Planning donated our Protective Aging and Living to 100 Plans as the Grand Prize to a worthy organization, Alabama War Dogs Memorial Foundation.  Their September 11 event at the Kelly Ingram VFW Post 668 involved bingo, lunch, and a silent auction.
